Dentist Pasadena Texas: Impacted Teeth Causing Damage
When the third molars start to develop and grow, there is usually not enough space to grow. The wisdom tooth may grow into the adjacent tooth, causing catastrophic damage. For wisdom teeth evaluation, come see Dr. Nugent.
Wisdom Teeth and Front Teeth Crowding – Fact or Myth?
Many patients in Pasadena and Deer Park ask, “Did my wisdom teeth cause my front teeth to become crooked?” It’s a common belief — especially when crowding appears in your late teens or early twenties, around the same time third molars (wisdom teeth) start to erupt.
At our office, Dr. Michael Nugent helps patients understand this issue through both examination and education. This video explores the concept of third molar crowding and explains what the science and dental research really say about it.
What Is Third Molar Crowding?
Third molar crowding refers to the theory that erupting wisdom teeth can push other teeth forward, especially the lower front teeth, causing crowding or overlapping. While it seems logical, studies have shown that this is not necessarily the case.
In fact, research suggests that many factors — such as jaw size, genetics, and natural shifting over time — play a larger role in crowding than the wisdom teeth themselves. In many cases, wisdom teeth are removed for other reasons such as infection, impaction, or pain — not because they directly cause misalignment.
