Pasadena Texas: Same Day Dental Crown with CEREC
The Advantages of CEREC: Same Appointment Crowns
The CEREC system allows our office to create beautiful porcelain restorations for you in just one visit.
CEREC (CEramic REConstruction) is an advanced three dimensional computer scanning, imaging and milling technology Dr. Nugent uses to design and create perfectly-fitted porcelain crowns in just one visit! There is no need for a temporary crown. No need for gooey, messy and gagging impressions. No second visit.
Dr. Nugent is a leading Pasadena, Texas Dentist that delivers Family, Cosmetic and Implant Dentistry. As a technology leader in the area, Dr. Nugent utilizes his CEREC system to provide same day crowns. You don’t have to take off work a second time to come get you crown. He uses the CEREC 3D imaging system to make precision crowns using porcelain for a durable, cosmetic result.
CEREC has many advantages due to the natural properties of the high-grade porcelain used and the fact that the restoration is milled out of a single block of porcelain.
- CEREC crowns can be completed in just one visit. No plastic temporary crown.
- No second appointments needed.
- High strength cosmetic crown is designed and made that appointment
- Robust and resilient. CEREC porcelain is strong and lasting, even for back teeth.
- The porcelain also expands in the same way that teeth do. The CEREC restorations are milled out from a single block of porcelain, they are less prone to cracks and flaws.
- Biocompatible, all-porcelain. CEREC crowns are made out of a single block of bio-compatible porcelain and does not require any metal.
- Digitally scanning, designing, milling and modifying the CEREC restoration chairside allows Dr. Nugent to create accurately matching and properly positioned crowns.
- Cosmetics. The porcelain used for CEREC restorations has the exact level of translucency as natural teeth. Furthermore, Ceramic blocks come in 17 shades for precise color matching.
How do one-day crowns from Cerec work?
A normal CEREC machine is made up of a special computer, a camera, and a manufacturing/milling machine that all work together to do a certain task. To make a perfect crown for the teeth, the process uses high-tech tools like Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM). CEREC machines also use the best 3D imaging software to make a very exact and detailed picture of the teeth and get rid of any mistakes or flaws.
Once the computer has all the information it needs, your dentist will help you make changes to the crown’s shape. Then, the computer will start making the crown right away by milling it from a single block of ceramic.
After the crown has been made, it is polished, stained to match the color of your other teeth, and then glazed in a furnace. The dentist will then put the new cap on your tooth. This whole process takes place all in one visit.
Benefits of CEREC Crowns:
Everything was done in one visit, and there were no follow-ups.
In the busy world we live in now, it’s much easier to make fewer trips.
Also, if you break a tooth right before an important event like a wedding or graduation where you have to smile and take pictures, the best thing to do is use CEREC’s technology to get the problem taken care of.
You don’t need temporary crowns.
Usually, you will get a temporary cap after your tooth has been cleaned and shaped. If you’ve used one of these, you know how frustrating they can be. Temporary crowns are made to be very loosely attached, so they are easy to take off. Because of this, people are usually told to stay away from things that could hurt the temporary crown. Also, the material used to make the artificial crown is different from the rest of your teeth. Since CEREC’s technology lets you get the final crown on the same day, you will no longer have to use temporary crowns. When they first start, CEREC blocks are purple. The kiln makes the ceramic crystallize, which changes the color to match your teeth.
A more pleasant experience.
Anesthetic shots might be used when a crown is being scanned and put in place. But if the new crown is put on your tooth during the same visit, you’ll have to get a lot fewer shots than if you went to the dentist more than once. This means that you will only have to be numb once. When using the traditional way, keep in mind that the temporary crowns can be painful for a few weeks. With the CEREC, you can skip this whole step.
Eliminates, as much as possible, material distortion and human mistake.
A traditional crown requires a lot of interactions with people, so it mostly depends on how accurate the dentist and dental technicians are. This is especially true when taking dental impressions and making a mold for the crown. If there are errors, the dentist will only know when it is time to put on the permanent crown. If there is a problem with your crown after waiting weeks for it, it is never fun to be told that a new mold needs to be made and another crown will take a few more weeks to make.
On the other hand, CEREC’s process is almost fully automated, with very few human steps. This means that your crown is much less likely to have mistakes or flaws. Also, you have to see the scans and milling to understand how accurate they are. The accuracy of CEREC crowns is about 25 microns, which is less than half the width of a human hair. Our patients love being able to watch as their crown is created right in front of them and then milled.
The 3D scanner makes it easy, quick, and comfortable to scan the mouth.
You won’t have to make sloppy or bad impressions. CEREC uses 3D imaging technology instead of the old way of having the dentist taking a messy, bad tasting old fashioned impression. Our 3D scanner is a small camera that is waved around carefully in your mouth to get all the details needed to make a model of your mouth.
