What is Osseointegration?
Osseointegration is the direct structural and functional connection between living bone and the surface of a dental implant.
Literally, the bone grows up to and fuses to the titanium locking the implant in place. Then Dr. Nugent can restore the implant to give you a new tooth or use the implant to make dental implant dentures.
Osseointegreation was discovered in Europe in the 1950s.
The processes of osseointegration involve an initial interlocking between alveolar bone and the implant body, and later, biological fixation through continuous bone apposition and remodeling toward the implant. The process itself is quite complex and there are many factors that influence the formation and maintenance of bone at the implant surface.

Dr. Nugent carefully places the dental implant into the bone. The genetic code that commonly makes bone reject a foreign material is not activated. Instead, the body allows bone cells to attach to the titanium surface and the result is a firm and permanent anchorage for a prosthetic reconstruction.
