Dental Sedation Pasdaena Texas

Sedation Dentistry use medicine to help you relax for a more comfortable dental appointment. Sedation dentistry can even help those who are really anxious about going to the dentist.

Sedation dentistry provides numerous advantages tailored to your specific need. Sedation causes your body to entirely relax. This improves the efficacy of local anesthetic. Sedation dentistry lessens the sense of time passing. This can be extremely beneficial if you require complex or several treatments in a single sitting. It also keeps your muscles from stiffening or becoming sore from sitting for long periods of time.

Your sedation is continuously monitored by Dr. Nugent and his team who ensure your safety and comfort in every circumstance.

Sedation Using Nitrous Oxide

Nitrous oxide, also known as laughing gas, is a moderate dental sedative. It causes a condition of mild relaxation when breathed. It also lowers pain sensitivity. Nitrous Oxide is safe for almost all patients, regardless of age. After therapy, oxygen is utilized to counteract the effects of the nitrous oxide. You will be fully alert and able to drive yourself home once this is completed.

Sedation by mouth

For higher anxiety, oral sedation works well:

  • You take a tiny tablet before your therapy.
  • The sedative drug is FDA authorized and has a lengthy track record of safety.
  • You’ll recall very little of your visit.
  • You must have someone drive you home.

Sedation administered intravenously

Intravenous Sedation, often known as IV Sedation, is typically utilized for the most severe anxiety patients. The effects are immediate, and you may feel as though you slept through the therapy. The drugs instantly enter your blood stream. When the IV is turned off, you may feel sleepy, but this will pass in a few hours. You must have someone to drive you home.
