Dental Implant Placement:
The first stage of dental implant treatment involves creating an space in the jawbone that will receive the dental implant. The implant is placed into the jawbone and sealed with a healing cover screw. Depending on the clinical situation, the gum tissue may need to be sutured. A temporary denture can be worn for cosmetic purposes. The jaw bone begins to heal and the bone fuses to the implant in a processes called Osseointegration.
This fusing of the jaw bone to the titanium implant usually takes two to four months. Now the implant anchored in the jaw bone. Dr. Nugent will take impressions to fabricate the abutement and crown that will look, feel and function like a natural tooth.
